LIFTING NOVELTY AT MOTEK

NEWS RELEASE

LIFTING NOVELTY AT MOTEK

Bangalore, India 27 August 2008
‘It is an ideal arrangement for lifting tables and platforms.’ according to CEO Mr. R. Seshagiri., ‘we simply skip a whole number of connecting elements, installation will become so much easier’, he continues. ‘These worm gear jacks are ideal to make synchronous movements at more places at the same time. This new design includes ease of alignment and space reduction. Together, additional traits that designers and installation companies will value’, according to Seshagiri.

Gears and Gear Drives present a newly designed simple arrangement by integrating a bevel gearbox to a cubical screw jack to turn the drive through 90°. In fact it is a two-fold angle gear drive with worm screw actuation.

The picture shows two standard cubical screw jacks and two cubical screw jacks with integrated bevel gearbox. They are driven by a single motor.

Synchronous movement can best be achieved by mechanical connections. This is proven for many applications all over the industry.
Over decades worm screw jacks, bevel gearboxes and other transmission elements have been used in such lifting systems. Ever since there have been consistent efforts to improve the performance, reduce the size and space, eliminate several connecting parts. The ultimate goal is to achieve simplicity and economics in the lifting system.

Gears and Gear Drives will demonstrate their solution at the coming MOTEK exhibition in Stuttgart from 22 – 25 September 2008. Their stall number is 6234 in Hall 6.

Metalex; Conveying the message on Macedonia

NEWS RELEASE

Metalex; ‘Conveying the message’ on Macedonia

25 August 2008; Kavadarci (Republic of Macedonia)

Few would choose Macedonia as outsourcing destination for conveyor rollers and conveyors. ‘A mistake’, according to CBI expert Peter van der Sman, ‘as Macedonia has all ingredients a successful industrial supplier country needs’. Buyers of conveyor rollers and conveyor equipment are amongst those that can profit.

Some data on Macedonia (Source: Wikipedia).
- Recently ranked as the fourth 'best reformatory state' out of 178 countries ranked by the World Bank
- Open economy with trade accounting for more than 90% of GDP in recent years
- GDP growth figure is projected to rise to an average of 5.2% in the 2006-2010 period.
- Inflation rate of only 3% in 2006 and 2% in 2007
- Government introduced programmes to promote the development of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises).

‘So all in all it is a relatively healthy economy.’ Van der Sman adds a few advantages. ‘Macedonia is geographically much closer than India, China, Vietnam etc. It is even in the same time zone as Western Europe. At the same time labour costs are still very low’.

Why then, is Macedonia not a country ‘in the picture’ in the European industry. Van der Sman feels that a number of factors influence this process. War in the former Yugoslavia territory did much harm according to him. ‘Further, nobody conveyed the message yet’ Van der Sman explains. ‘Macedonia has a number of advantages, but it is not easy to find the right company. Not even through the official authorities. That is why CBI (Dutch government agency promoting imports from developing countries; http://www.cbi.eu/) made it a priority to find quality suppliers of engineering products in this country.

‘Metalex, produces excellent conveyor rollers and other equipment’. After a thorough export audit by CBI, they are now ready to face their European prospective customers. From 22 – 25 September they will be exhibiting at the Motek exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany.

Outsourcing pump manufacture to Macedonia

The Republic of Macedonia;

Not a buzz country (like China and India), but an interesting country for offshoring. Especially if you are European and have access to the right companies. Why?

  • low cost (relatively)
  • geographical proximity (compared to the ‘buzz countries’).
One secret I give you, MZT Pumpi is the ideal address for:
Industrial pumps: centrifugal pumps, end suction, split case, multistage, sewage, deep well, propeller, petrol. Rotary pumps: screw, rotary vane, dosing and vacuum pumps. Booster sets and Diesel pump units.

Visit them at Aquatech 2008 (30 Sep – 3 Oct), RAI exhibition center Amsterdam (Netherlands), Hall 7, Stand 400.

Flood or drought, Floating Pumps come to the rescue

NEWS RELEASE

Flood or drought, Floating Pumps come to the rescue

Cartagena, 1 August 2008

The inconvenient truth is slowly sinking in. Global warming has a number of nasty consequences. Some of those consequences (according to the intergovernmental panel on climate change) are:
- More flooding will occur.
- Droughts are on the increase.
- In Western Europe much more rain is expected.

ETEC produces floating pumps to fight this all.

Floating pumps with a number of essential traits. They can be transported very fast to wherever they need to be. They can be installed and put in operation in no time. They only require shallow water depth for operation.

The main trait however is they are able to pump huge quantities of water. To be precise, up to 5000 litres per second. For the exact technical details you can visit the following link; http://www.etecsa.com/en/ficha_tecnica_bomba_flotante.pdf.

CEO Eric Thiriez and Commercial Director Eduardo del Castillo will be the special guests on the CBI stand 400 in hall 7 during Aquatech. ‘We are convinced we have an excellent package for rental companies and disaster and calamity management authorities’, Eduardo del Castillo assures us, ‘and we are eager to explain them our unique product’.

The pumps can also float in a river, canal or lake, pumping water onto the dry land in all sorts of irrigation applications.

Besides floating pumps ETEC also produces:
- Stationary axial flow pumps for massive water movements
- Hidrotec (drainage) pumps to be operated with agricultural tractors
- Mobile Axial flow pumps mounted on a trailer
- Tracto Pumps for irrigation and fish farming

CBI experts Peter van der Sman and Jan Nyeboer are thrilled to have to have ETEC exhibiting at the Aquatech exhibition. ‘This floating pump simply makes one enthusiastic about the immense possibilities’ according to Van der Sman.

You can meet the ETEC people in person from 30 Sep – 3 Oct at Aquatech, RAI Amsterdam, hall 7 stand 400. If you need more information, please send an email to Jan Nyeboer, he can be reached via cbi@kommanet.nl.

Increased pumping activities in emerging markets

The number of manufacturers of pumps is increasing in India, Colombia, South Africa, etc. Could they be interesting business partners? At what costs? What are the risks? How to prepare? These questions will be addressed by CBI expert Peter van der Sman in a 45 minute presentation. Very practical.

Peter van der Sman has been traveling emerging markets for over 20 years to filter out and audit pump manufacturers on behalf of CBI (Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries)

Location: Aquastage ‘Transport and Storage’; Aquatech exhibition; RAI exhibition Center; Amsterdam; Netherlands
Date and Time: Wednesday 1 October 2008 at 12:00 h.

The Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) is an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Since 1971 the CBI contributes to the equitable economic development of selected developing countries and countries with economies in transition by providing services aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of companies in the field of export marketing and export management pertaining to the EU & EFTA markets.
